@John Redwood thanks for pointing out the lack of reliability of the source.

i was 20 years old and at bethel for just a couple of months.
i was really depressed, as i was finding out what bethel was really all about.
i drank a whole bottle of cold duck, after a long hot subway ride back to brooklyn.
If I'm not mistaken it was at my 10 year wedding anniversary, so that would be at age 31.
We celebrated with family and (JW) friends at our place.
Drank beers and (spiked) sangria from 8pm til 3am when all (but one) friends had left. That wasn't even the real issue. I was just buzzing a little bit.
Then the one friend who was left - and stayed at our home for what was left of the night - said, while already on his way to bed: "Too bad there aren't any beers left."
We still had 3 quarters of a bottle of the gin that was used to spike the sangria, so I told him jokingly "we can finish that bottle ;-)"
"You know you must never dare me"
"I dare you"
15 minutes later that bottle was empty, and soon after my bedroom changed into a fast spinning carnival ride.
I'll skip some details. Rest assured that shortly before passing out I managed to quickly push my meeting shoes out of harm's way.
When I woke up it was 3pm, and I was not feeling well. Unfortunately it was Sunday, and I was scheduled to read the Watchtower.
I had to call in sick. "Guess I'm coming down with the flu or something. Headache, feverish chills, nausea...."
No more gin for me. (Not that that helped me when German police took me in custody years later ;-)
i am just curious if anyone knows whether the "friends" still are required to wear "meeting clothes" for attending meetings through zoom?
such emphasis on dressing in a godly manner over the decades, would be interesting if some attend in pajamas or their work clothes, no makeup, etc....
Yes, they stress up. Also the dubs have been told that even though they are in their own homes, they should behave as if they're in the KH. So no drinks or snacks during the zooming. I guess Jehovah doesn't approve of coffee?
this was sent to me by a cooky uber-dub.
apparently it's making the rounds locally...it's typical lighthearted jw satire (that they think is great!!
smh :-/ ) .
This is just silly.
Btw it's not satire. Satire is humourous ridiculing.

“The holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to follow the CDC guidelines (see hyperlinks). If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper.”
i don't know if anyone remembers me on here but i'm here to do an update again.. well, i'm 15 going on 16 soon i still remember watching my first video on youtube and learning that all the jw teachings are false and everything that follows.
crazy times, i have chosen to just focus on school and just trying to be a kid well a teen now but you get the point.
i'm not really mad about all the jw stuff i've come to accept that i couldn't have done anything to prevent it i was born into a family that was already into the religion.
Hi Akid,
Great to hear from you! Glad you're doing ok. Those books you plan to read are awesome. Enjoy!
today a dutch judge ruled that jw elders and the jw branch cannot invoke clergy-penitent privilege when it comes to information used in a judicial committee.. jw had filed a complaint with the courts because the branch office, two kingdom halls and a few elders' homes were raided by police almost 2 years ago in search of evidence related to child abuse issues.. jw argued that the information that was taken by police is protected by clergy-penitent privilege.
today the judge ruled that 1) an organization doesn't haven't such a privilege, 2) jw elders don't always act as spiritual counselors.
their actions as judges in judicial committees aren't protected by privilege, and 3) conversations jw have with their elders are often not confidential at all (as per jw policy) so jw elders can't rightfully invoke clergy-penitent privilege to maintain absolute confidentiality, because there isn't absolute confidentiality in the first place.. jw are thinking about appealing the verdict..

@Simon,
I'm not trying to pull any tricks on anyone.
I simply stated what my criteria are. Your criteria my be entirely different, and that's fine with me.
Because does the fact they are so determined to prevent something even being heard not tell you something?
No. As I said before: how does one distinguish between a crackpot spreading dangerous bullshit, and the lone person who is right but is opposed by those in power?
I have yet to see a useful response to that.
To me, the two may be virtually identical in appearance when it comes to actions taken by media platforms and authorities.
I would expect governments and media platforms to try and silence or not offer a platform those that spread dangerous nonsense.
And they would do the same if they were actuallly trying to cover up a conspiracy of those in power.
So if someone is kicked off of YouTube or not offered a platform otherwise, that in itself is not evidence of them being right (or wrong).
You own and moderate this forum. A few days ago we discussed this very thing: those operating a media platform are in no way obliged to offer a platform to anyone. If I were to start promoting dangerous nonsense you would ban me, right?
I'm not surprised other platforms removing content they deem dangerous (or simply disagree with).
That in itself is not evidence of a conspiracy.
does anyone have wts quotations showing that the great crowd members will only be declared righteous and receive everlasting life at the close of the millennium?.
Thus, in summing up, we see that from Pentecost to the present time only those of the “body of Christ” are declared righteous, and that by faith; these will gain actual righteousness in the “first resurrection.” And the rest of the obedient ones of mankind will be declared righteous to life everlasting after meeting the test at the end of the thousand-year reign of Christ.

By faith in “the blood of the Lamb,” the “other sheep” are given an approved standing before Jehovah and are thus declared righteous for friendship with him and for survival during the “great tribulation.” They will attain to perfection by the end of the Millennium. After the final test they will be declared righteous for life.

I think this comes closest. It appears this doctrine was changed around 1985?
All quotes from later dates have no ifs and buts wrt the other sheep being declared righteous.
